This consultation seeks respondents’ views on whether, and if so how,
to regulate herbal medicine practitioners and traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM) practitioners.
We will be adding some comments, here, to help people understand
the tricky parts of the consultation document. With specific reference
to areas that we, as a body, are not in agreement with. We will answer
for the U.R.H.P., but it is important that members also answer
individually and have their say! Please take some time to give your
feedback on this crucial matter, and give your views on the proposals.
Members of the public and patients can respond if they wish to and
their views would be welcomed.

The responses will be analysed for the UK as a whole, as well as by
country, to help Ministers make a decision about the best way of
ensuring an appropriate level of protection for the public when
accessing treatment from practitioners of acupuncture, herbal medicine
and traditional Chinese medicine. The preferred method for receiving
your responses is via the automated response system on the department
of health website. To respond follow the links below:

Thanks so much for supporting us. The next week is vital. The closing date has now been moved to Nov 16th. Send this out to as many people as possible and write to your MPs asking that they ensure it is dealt with fast and questioning why the questions are so complex and require specialist knowledge of the public. Personally I would like those questions to be discounted from the results. I can give you sample letters but it may be better that you just write your own so they can see it is personal.

Liz

Interview with Michael McIntyre of the European Herbal and Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association (102Kb pdf)

Poster for consultation support (includes direct link to consultation document) (72Kb pdf)
